According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners will wait until after the FA Cup final to begin talks with the 26-year-old about extending his stay at the Emirates. The winger has one year left on his £90,000 a week deal.
Should the club fail to agree a new deal with the England international, then that may leave the door open for a bid for his international teammate Sterling.
The Mirror report that the 20-year-old wants to leave Anfield, and while Manchester City are in the running for his signature, London is his preferred destination, with Chelsea also in the hunt, along with Arsene Wenger’s side.
Walcott’s season has been largely decimated by injury, but he proved his quality on the final day with a hat-trick against West Brom.
His attitude may also prove to be a refreshing change from what we have seen from Sterling this year. The Mirror suggest that he was a Reds fan growing up, and is more concerned with being guaranteed playing time than financial gain when it comes to agreeing the new deal.
