Fans breathed a sign of relief when Gary McAllister claimed Roberto Firmino’s back problem was nothing serious the other day, but sadly, the news is not as positive as first thought…
In fact, it’s awful and the £29m summer signing has potentially broken a bone in his back, Rodgers told today’s press conference, confirmed the official website.
“Young Firmino landed awkwardly in the game the other night and there is another scan on his back, but he may have cracked a bone in his back. We’ll see how he’ll be over the coming weeks, but certainly he’ll be unavailable for tomorrow,” Rodgers said.
The news sums up and concludes a pretty miserable start to life on Merseyside for the Brazilian international.
He’s yet to score, register an assist or really win a place in the side despite arriving with such exceptional Bundesliga pedigree.
Now, it sounds like he’ll be unavailable for some time, which will make it harder for him to find his feet in England.
As fans we can wish him a speedy recovery and hope his time on the sidelines sees him back fit and healthy.
His talent is clear to see, and it would be a crying shame if this injury and his slow start weighed too heavily on his shoulders.
Get well soon, Roberto.
