Liverpool fans are coming to terms with the fact that our season is rapidly falling apart and Jurgen Klopp’s interaction with one of his players showed how it’s affecting them all.

Cameras captured the moment the boss shared a hug with Alexis Mac Allister after the full-time whistle, with clear emotion being present.

Let’s hope that we can quickly turn these results around and soon be back to our winning best, something that will need to happen if we want to try and win the Premier League.

The Egyptian King was through on goal and saw the opposition goalkeeper close him down, with an easy decision to chip the stopper being taken.

Instead of finding the back of the net though, it went way wide from our No.11 and left a two-goal mountain to still be climbed at half time in Bergamo.

Taking to X, writer Dave Kirby replied to a video posted on the club’s accounts that showcased the sights in Bergamo and had quite the response.

Alongside an image of the stand our supporters will be sitting in, the Scouser wrote: ‘Lovely images – the complete opposite of the ramshackle shitty stand where the LFC fans are gonna be shoved.’

Let’s hope those present can actually see the pitch and that they get to witness a genuine piece of history.

Speaking about finally returning after an eight-week lay-off, the Brazilian said: “It was really hard for me. I am a guy that when I am at home, injured or just resting, I don’t like to watch football because I get too excited and I want to play!

“I want to be part of every game. But I knew that wasn’t possible for me, so I tried to make the best of the treatments, the recovery. I spent a lot of time on a bed having treatment, spent a lot of time inside the gym working to be strong when I come back, to be in a good shape, maybe better than I was before.

“This is how I feel. It was eight weeks pretty much working double sessions every day, sometimes three sessions, so it was really hard for me.

“And, of course, seeing the team fighting for titles, I have a lot of desire to be part of that, to be part of that fight. Thank God I am here and I am looking forward to the rest of the season.”

This frustration from our No.1 will now need to be transferred into positive performances on the pitch and given his impeccable track record, there’s no reason to doubt this will happen.

Let’s just hope that the 31-year-old can keep a clean sheet in Italy as the job at hand is already tough enough, without the prospect of conceding any more goals.

Atalanta seemed to catch Liverpool by surprise in the first leg of the quarter final and Jurgen Klopp was quick to praise the performance of one man in particular.

Speaking with the press about Gianluca Scamacca, the 56-year-old said: “He was exceptional against us. He was really, really good – in England we say he was a ‘handful’!

“He is difficult to play against, great in the air and great on the floor. I liked him when he was at West Ham, I didn’t know him too well when he came to West Ham.

“It didn’t work out there 100 per cent but that can happen because the Premier League is a difficult league to play but you can see he has great quality.”

With a brace at Anfield, the 25-year-old has 14 goals in all competitions this season but Virgil van Dijk will be hoping that he and his defence can make sure this number doesn’t rise any further.

Let’s hope we can keep the former West Ham striker quiet, as we look to score enough ourselves so that we can book a place in the semi final.

It’s a typically inspirational comment from the 56-year-old that will both encourage the players that a comeback is possible, whilst removing pressure from needing to achieve it.

As is customary for European competition, the squad trained in front of the media and this meant that they were able to capture the moment our Egyptian King kicked his vice captain.

The lack of a reaction from the Scouser gave the impression of a man who is very used to his teammate playing these type of tricks.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp’s side trained in front of the media before facing Atalanta, Paul Gorst took to X to report:

‘No further injuries for Jurgen Klopp to concern himself with as Liverpool come through open training at the AXA Centre with as clean a bill of health as they’ve had virtually all season.’

Even Stefan Bajcetic has been spotted which will be a huge boost for many, with the teenager making just one start this season so far.

Goals change matches is the easiest terminology to use and had any of our many chances found the back of the net, it would have provided confidence that a second would soon follow.

Javier Mascherano is arguably one of the best midfielders we’ve seen at Liverpool in the modern era but his time with the club wasn’t long or successful enough to be remembered as highly as other icons.

Speaking with Movistar Deportes Perú (translated) the 39-year-old reflected on signing for the Reds: “When I realised that I wasn’t playing [for West Ham], my idea was to leave in the winter market and I don’t know how Rafa Benítez found out that I was going to leave but he contacted me.

“One day he came to my apartment in London to convince me to sign for Liverpool, because I was already thinking about leaving England, he stopped me. In the talk we had, I remember that we were sitting on a sofa and there was a table with pebbles, he began to explain to me with the pebbles where I had to play.

“He was clear and he told me that what I could give to the team, none of those who were already in the squad could. I thought about it for a week and finally the transfer was finalised. It’s an interesting though to see Rafa Benitez arriving at the door of the Argentine to try and convince him on a move to Merseyside, soon using pebbles to show how he wanted the West Ham man to perform for his team.

It was a master stroke by the Spaniard though and the whole squad were unlucky to not end that campaign with a Champions League winners’ medal in hand.

It was a dream weekend for Manchester City as both Liverpool and Arsenal lost in the Premier League and now Bernardo Silva has commented on the dropped points.

Speaking with the media, the Portuguese international said: “It was obviously a very good weekend for us; I’m not going to deny that because personally, I wasn’t expecting both teams to drop points.

“Before, we didn’t depend only on ourselves, so we had to do our job and wait for them to drop points.

Naby Keita’s Liverpool career will be largely remembered for the amount of games the midfielder was unable to play but his legacy in his new club already looks to be tarnished.

As reported on Werder Bremen’s club website: ‘Werder Bremen have suspended Naby Keïta until the end of the season. The club have also handed the midfielder a substantial fine. The 29-year-old will no longer train with the team or be part of the first-team dressing room.

“As a club, we won’t tolerate Naby’s behaviour. He let his team down in a time of difficulty surrounding our recent run of form and squad availability and put his own interests above those of the team. We can’t allow that. At this stage of the season, we need full focus on the remaining games and a team who stick together. That’s why we’ve been left with no alternative.”

It’s certainly not something we saw at Anfield from our former No.8, even if some questioned the availability of the player at times.

The 29-year-old clearly thinks he shouldn’t be on the bench and seeing as his team fell to a 5-0 loss in the same match, it perhaps shows that the Premier League winner is good enough to start in the Bundesliga.

With the team sat in 12th place, the Guinea international hasn’t had the dream return to Germany with just five appearances in the league so far this season.

13 games have been missed with fitness concerns and the captain of his nation has averaged just 12 league games a season in the past five years.

It doesn’t look like a relationship that will continue with the club who perform in the Weser Stadium and there may be another search for a new club this summer.

It’s such a shame that a man with obvious talent can’t stay fit enough to perform regularly but actions like this certainly won’t help his career going forward.
