Jamie Carragher enjoyed some post-match banter with Martin Odegaard on Monday night following Arsenal’s 6-0 romp over Sheffield United.
That result came a month after the Gunners beat Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, after which their captain borrowed a club photographer’s camera to capture some of the celebrations from his team, an act which earned him some criticism from the 46-year-old.
The Norwegian was being interviewed by Sky Sports after last night’s match, and the former Reds defender seized his chance to aim a light-hearted dig over that incident in February.
Carragher joked: “I just didn’t see the photographer on the pitch!”, and Odegaard took it in good spirits, replying: “I was waiting for you to say something! I went straight inside [the dressing room] today”.
Arsenal have shown the best form of the three Premier League title contenders over the past six games, but they still need Liverpool to slip up somewhere to leapfrog the table-topping Reds, while also trying not to drop points themselves.
There are plenty of chapters still to be written in this pulsating chase towards the finish line.
