Ex-Man City player disagrees with Peter Schmeichel’s Liverpool scoreline prediction for the weekend

Peter Schmeichel has predicted a share of the spoils to take place following Liverpool’s weekend league clash with Manchester City.

The Merseysiders find themselves a point ahead of the incumbent champions and in need of leaving a mark on the title race.

“That was my [score], 2-2 draw honestly,” the Manchester United legend spoke on the Planet Premier League podcast.

Former Sky Blues star Nedum Onuoha (who played with the club between 2004-2012) disagreed with his co-commentator: “I was thinking a draw as well but just to be on the edge I’ll say a City win, because we see that all the time, now I’ve seen Peter Schmeichel of course City are going to win.”

Third-placed Arsenal could very well leapfrog both outfits when they host Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday.

The hardest game to predict

On paper, and especially bearing in mind the injuries faced by Liverpool’s squad, you could forgive Schmeichel for opting to sit on the fence.

On our end, we’re backing Jurgen Klopp’s men to secure a narrow win over our title rivals in what is proving to be one of the most intense battles for the top-flight crown in the Premier League era.

We’re most certainly buoyed (as we imagine the squad likewise is) by the availability of Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The form of Caoimhin Kelleher should also furnish fans with the hope that the Sky Blues won’t necessarily be able to capitalise on the absences in our starting-XI.
