Liverpool are reportedly of the mind that they still lead the race for Andre’s signature ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, according to Pete O’Rourke.
The Merseysiders have been keen on the Brazilian since the summer and are understood to be keeping the player – deemed the best midfielder in Brazil, according to Fernando Campos (as reported by footballfancast) – in mind despite rival interest from Arsenal.
“The Reds still believe they have the best chance of landing Fluminense midfielder Andre despite new interest from Arsenal,” the reporter wrote for Football Insider. “Liverpool were frontrunners for the Brazil international during the summer window and saw a number of bids rejected for his services.”
The 22-year-old footballer is set to represent his side in the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors in November, with Fluminense fighting to secure their first title in the competition in their history.

Whilst Alexis Mac Allister has been a fine performer in the holding midfield role, it can be argued that we’ve yet to see the best on offer from the Argentine thanks to the decision to play him in a deeper position.
That’s not to criticise Jurgen Klopp or the coaching team who have made the best call possible for the benefit of the overall health of our XI on the pitch as things currently stand.
One does have to look curiously over to the bench, however, at Wataru Endo – a player the manager seemed particularly delighted to secure after efforts to land either one of Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia were scuppered in quick succession by Chelsea – and wonder at his potential role in the side. Especially should Andre make the switch over to L4 in the January window.
