Liverpool are expected to undergo an overhaul in defence next summer.

Reinforcing their back line will be a priority and they have started to look for potential candidates. According to a report by 90min, Tosin Adarabioyo is one of the names on their radar.

The 26-year-old might have failed to break into the Manchester City ranks back in the day but he has gone from strength to strength since joining Fulham in 2020. He has featured in over 120 matches for the Cottagers.

Adarabioyo has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team. Since returning from injury, he has been a constant feature in their starting XI in the ongoing season. But, the 26-year-old will most likely part ways with the club in the summer. His contract runs out at the end of the season and as things stand, he will be a free agent.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are the ones looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season. Joel Matip’s contract runs out in the summer and he has been linked with a move to the Middle East.

Liverpool are always on the lookout for players who can help bolster their squad and according to a report from The Mirror, the Merseyside club have their sights set on Nico Williams.

They will look to make a move for him during the summer transfer window.

Williams joined Athletic Club Bilbao back in the summer of 2013 as a youth player. He has since gone up the ranks at the club and has managed to establish himself as one of their mainstays. In the ongoing season, the 21-year-old has 15 goal contributions in his 24 outings.

Williams is capable of operating on either flank and as an attacking midfielder.

His impressive rise and exceptional performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Bilbao are aware of the interest in their star prospect and they recently secured their investment by tying him down to a new long-term deal.

Williams’ new contract runs until the summer of 2027 and a potential deal for the Spanish international will not be cheap for any of the interested clubs. Liverpool will have to trigger his €50 million release clause in order to sign the player.

With just over a year left on his deal, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has been the talk of the town.

Liverpool are planning for life without Mohamed Salah with potential replacements lined up.

The Merseyside club are on the lookout for a replacement and they are interested in the services of Leroy Sane. The Bayern Munich winger is aware of the Reds’ interest in securing his services according to Christian Falk via BILD.

Salah has been linked with a move to the Middle East for a while now. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are desperate to have him in their ranks. There is a possibility of the Egyptian international leaving at the end of the season.

As a result, the Reds have started to look for someone who can feel the void. Sane is one of the names on their radar. The Bayern Munich winger has the experience of playing in the Premier League and he has been performing at an exceptional level over the past few seasons.

While he is integral to the plans of the German giants and their manager Thomas Tuchel, his long-term future is up in the air because his contract runs out in the summer of 2025. Liverpool have put the first-half disappointment behind them and they have taken the lead after going all-out attack from the start in the second half.

While there were question marks over the decision to award the goal, Liverpool’s relentless pressure seems to have done the trick for them.

Alexis Mac Allister went for the screamer but he caught Burnley midfielder Aaron Ramsey as he tried to hit the ball. The miss-kick sent the ball towards Harvey Elliott who found Luis Diaz will a low cross.

The Colombian international did well to head home and put Liverpool back in the lead. VAR was called into action but the goal stood despite a check for a foul as well as offside.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new manager and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is one of the names on their radar.

Alonso has had great success at Liverpool as a player. Despite that, former German player Lothar Matthaüs feels the 42-year-old should not return to the Merseyside club.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Matthaus talked about the fact that Alonso has unfinished business at Leverkusen and he should stay at the club for longer.

The former German international feels there will be too much pressure on the former Liverpool midfielder at Anfield. It won’t be easy to replicate the kind of results Jurgen Klopp has managed. As a result, he should stay in Germany and continue to grow as a manager.

Mattaus said on Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness: “I think his job at Leverkusen is not finished: he was a coach before he sat on the bench and that helps him. It would be difficult to repeat Klopp’s results immediately, while in the Bundesliga he is more protected to grow and win. Then there will be time to go to a big team, maybe Real Madrid.”

Matthaus feels the 42-year-old should wait for the perfect moment before making a switch. There could be a possibility of an even bigger team knocking on the door, maybe Real Madrid could come calling.

Liverpool take on Burnley in the Premier League as they look to get their title bid back on track after a disappointing defeat against Arsenal last time out. 

The Reds will be without multiple key players because of injuries and suspension. Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are working on their recovery and they will not be back for this match.

Ben Doak, Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic remain long-term absentees and they are not expected back anytime soon. Kostas Tsimikas is working on his recovery from a collarbone injury.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate was sent off against Arsenal and he misses out with suspension.

Liverpool will be without Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez for the visit of Burnley this weekend. Both players have been crucial for the Reds in recent weeks and their absence will come as a major blow.

Gomez, in particular, will be missed in the absence of Konate. He has done an impressive job filling in multiple roles this season.

Liverpool are looking to sign a quality left-back during the January transfer window and they have identified the Fulham defender Antonee Robinson as a target.

A report from the Mirror claims that Liverpool have now made contact with the London club regarding the 26-year-old defender and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement.

Liverpool will need to sign a left-back next month, especially with Kostas Tsimikas and Andrew Robertson sidelined with injuries. Jurgen Klopp does not have any other specialist left-backs at his disposal and Robinson could prove to be a useful acquisition.

The 26-year-old USMNT defender has done quite well in the Premier League with Fulham this season and he has the quality to play for big clubs like Liverpool. A move to Anfield would certainly be a major step up in his career and the player could be attracted to the idea of joining the Reds.

However, he is a key player for the London club and Fulham might not want to sanction his departure midway through the season. They will struggle to replace him in January and his departure could affect their chances of securing a top-half finish.

Fulham have been quite vulnerable defensively this season and they have conceded 34 goals in 19 league matches. Letting a defender leave in January could prove to be a disastrous decision.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to test their resolve with an attractive offer next month.

Liverpool are on top of the league table and they will need to plug the gaps in their squad in January if they want to win the league title. Robinson will add defensive quality and depth to the side. His arrival could prove to be a wise investment.

Sky Sports have selected four Liverpool players in their 2023/24 Premier League team of the season so far.

During their Soccer Saturday broadcast, Sky Sports experts picked Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah in their team of the season. However, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was surprisingly snubbed in favour of Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario.

The likes of Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk have been imperious at the back for Liverpool this season and the England international has been outstanding with his attacking contributions as well. Meanwhile, summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai has hit the ground running in the Premier League and it is hardly a surprise that the Hungarian has been picked for the team of the season so far.

The 23-year-old has impressed with his work rate, drive, technical ability and defensive contribution. As far as Salah is concerned, the Egyptian remains one of the best players in the league and he has chipped in with goals and assists consistently.

The exclusion of Alisson however, remains a major surprise given the way he has performed this season.

The 31-year-old Brazilian international has been outstanding with his shot-stopping and he has the most number of clean sheets in the league with six this season. He has the most number of clean sheets in the league in the 2023 calendar year as well.

In addition to that, his ability to pull off defining saves on a consistent basis has helped Liverpool grind out important points this season.

While there is no doubt that Vicario has been usually impressive for Tottenham as well, Alisson has been a cut above the other Premier League goalkeepers this season.

PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko has been linked with a move to the Premier League and the player is strongly appreciated by Liverpool.

Journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed that the player has emerged as a target for the Premier League giants, but they will face competition from rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old Belgian winger is highly rated around Europe and he has the tools to develop into a top-class attacker in future. Bakayoko is having an impressive season with PSV and he has picked up four goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

The right-sided winger could be the ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah in the long term and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to make a move for him at the end of the season. It is highly unlikely that PSV will sanction his departure midway through the season. In addition to that, Liverpool do not need to invest in a winger right now and they should focus on signing a defensive midfielder and a central defender next month.

Bakayoko could be a solid, long-term investment for them, especially as the Reds look to plan for a future without Salah. The Egyptian international has been phenomenal since joining the club and Liverpool will have to replace him adequately. He has a contract with the Premier League club until the summer of 2025 and it wouldn’t be surprising if Liverpool considered a sale in the summer if he does not sign an extension with them.

Liverpool will not want to lose him on a free transfer, and it would make sense for them to sell him at the end of the season for a substantial amount of money.

Bakayoko is a player with immense potential and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could nurture him into a star. The 20-year-old is valued at €40 million by transfermarkt.

The Belgian is exceptional when it comes to taking on defenders and beating them with his pace and flair. He would add unpredictability to the Liverpool attack going forward and his ability to break down deep defences will also come in handy.

The Brazilian defender has shown his quality with Fluminense and he has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League as well.
