Jurgen Klopp’s command of Spanish only took him so far in his conversation with Alexis Mac Allister’s father.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss shared his interaction with Carlos Mac Allister after the Merseysiders defeated relegation-battlers Sheffield United at Anfield.
“I met his dad after the game. He said, ‘Thank you’. I said, ‘Gracias’,” the German recalled in his post-match press conference. “That was the full conversation. ‘Hola’ I said as well and then my Spanish ends.”
The World Cup-winning midfielder played a pivotal role in the Reds’ 3-1 victory, scoring an absolute scorcher after the hour mark to pull his side back in control of the tie.
